Little Souls There is no greater pleasure then watching our wandering little souls explore the world and find their own place of happiness. Take a look

24/52 Freedom | Sola Standen

The theme for week 24 was Freedom and there is just so many ways to interpret freedom, freedom to fun free, freedom to choose what to wear, where to drive, to travel, freedom of speech. However one thing that we often forget is how lucky we are to live without constant worry and fear, a country free from war. During the Second World War Norway was occupied by the Germans, throughout our coastal area we still see the remains of the old German War bunkers. 2o15 mark 70 years since the war ended and these remains is just a distant and surreal reminder of what life was like when Norway was occupied. Instead of living in fear we can proudly wave our flag and wear our nationality with pride.

With freedom in mind, I took my daughter to Sola Stranden one night. We found a War Bunker that she had visited previously and while we walked along the beach she asked a lot of questions about the War. She wonders what it must be like to both be a soldier and those living in the Norway at that time. I love listening to the empathy she has for both and we speak about how lucky we are that this part is a thing of the past. She shares the interest for our history with her dad and I am sure as she learns more about our past at school her questions will just keep coming. After talking about the war, the past she goes on to tell me about how she and her friend was playing at the bunker last time they were at the beach, they had pretended it was a castle and suddenly we go from the history right into imaginary play. To me this transition just emphasis how far we have come in the past 70 years and how lucky we are to live in a free country.

Below is images that I created in collaboration with my daughter to mark our take on the word Freedom.

Time for a break | Fotograf Stavanger

I have never been good at slowing down, I just want to do everything I possibly can. I want to be the best mum and a good wife, I want to be the best portrait photographer, I want to be a good employee and colleague, I want to be a good daughter, a good friend….

There has been a lot going on in my life, yet I have struggled to let go, I have struggled to just sit down and take time to myself. I am not sure if it was a little warning but what I thought was a bad cough turned into be pneumonia. It left me unwell for a few weeks and I was forced to slow down. To top it all off during this time, my little editing buddy was involved in an accident giving it a cracked screen. Apple had also made changes to their logistics procedures which meant that no goods were able to get into Norway or even Stavanger. As a result I was left without my buddy for not just one but 3 weeks. Thankfully I was bedded up and not up for photographing or editing during this time but I really missed my clients, my camera and my editing buddy.

One sunny day, I just missed my photography too much and I convinced my daughter to put on one of my outfits from the studio wardrobe consisting of skirt and top from Tutu Du Monde which has been purchased from Land of Small, Joyfolie boots and a jacket from Stella McCartney. I have not been able to cut the grass leaving our garden looking overgrown and wild in these photos.

I also have to express my gratitude to the patient and understanding clients I had during this period. Sorry for letting some of you down.

6 week old baby girl | Stavanger Newborn Photography

It is recommended to photograph a newborn baby in the first 10 days, in this period the new arrival is still sleepy and bendy. It is therefore easier to move and position baby safely while they are still in deep sleep.

When I was asked to photography this adorable six week old baby girl I informed the parents that I could not guarantee the usual newborn images. I spent four hours with baby M and during this time we got some short periods of sleep where we got to photograph her. However, at 6 weeks there was some positions that she just would move out of immediately.

Below are some images from the session, and I have to say the favourite was the huge big smile I managed to capture. I just love when I manage to capture their smiles.

April Wedding at Orre Kirke | By Evy Photography

When this couple first started to look into a wedding they got in touch to ask if I was available, having photographed their teenage children I felt honoured that they trusted me to photograph this special occasion.

I met at the brides home to photograph them getting ready, the house had a lot of natural light shining through the window. It was beautiful watching their youngest daughter so smitten by her mother. She had never seen anything as beautiful. Whilst at the brides home it was also a delight to see photos from previous sessions proudly displayed on their wall.

We traveled to Orre Kirke for the ceremony and although it was a sunny day it was a very strong wind. Following the ceremony we travelled to the location we had identified for photos however the wind was too strong and we had to find a sheltered area and then we went for a location in the woods on the way to Sandnes. At the end the bride and groom was frozen yet they did a fantastic throughout and kept smiling through the cold weather.

I hope you enjoy the photos from the wedding at Orre Kirke.

Girl bedroom interior | Stavanger Fotograf

When my eldest daughter turned 3 we surprised her with a new big girls bedroom. The Ikea Hemnes Daybed has been a fantastic little bed but it did not travel well during the move from UK to Norway and it was time for us to say good bye and move on to something new. My daughter and I browsed the internet looking for the “perfect” bed and after a lot of choice and deliberation she chose a bed from the online Interior shop Glowy. The Maja bed is from the Delux series of the Danish brand Hoppekids.  We really wanted a selection of colourful wall shelves but we could not find what we wanted and ended up with a four pack of oval pastel blue shelves from Sebra.

It was not a huge change but the small changes made her room look a little more “grown” up and she is very happy. Next on her wish list is a new rug and she has already been online trying to pick the right one.
