Gibson Cake Smash | Stavanger Fotograf

After I met with family Gibson at Haddo House and shared their client web gallery they spotted the section on my website for Cake Smash and got in contact to see if we could also arrange for a cake smash to celebrate their son turning one.

We arranged one a couple of weeks later. Unfortunately the happy boy I met in the park was not as happy on the day of the cake smash and just wanted his mummy. His big brother soon found a friend in my daughter who were busy playing train tracks and watching cartoons. Meanwhile we tried to entertain this little boy to try and get a few images of him.

The cake smash sessions is exactly that… it is a session where you give a child a cake to smash. However, it is not only that. The sessions usually last between 1 hour and 1 1/2 hours. I start the session with some portrait images wearing one or two different outfits and towards the end the child is presented with a cake. This cake they can eat, play with and make as much mess as they want whilst I capture some memorable snaps of them doing it. It create some great images and often it is a one of a kind event as it is not something you allow your children to do on a regular occasion. Also, it only seem to be one year olds who make a lot of mess doing it which makes it a very unique way to celebrate turning 1.
